Beni Ourain rug

  • Beni Ourain rugs are tribal rugs, hand woven by the berber women from the mid atlas mountains of morocco.

Traditionally these thick wool rugs were used to insulate homes during the bitter cold weather of the Atlas Mountains. Hand made using pure wool their creamy colour is charteristic to beni rugs, their can be variations in tone depending on the colour of the sheep's wool.

Geometric and abstract markings are relevant to berber tribes and culture.

Please note these rugs have been made in rural areas therefore their may be small pieces of hay woven through.
